The "Leica Look"

August 18, 2018  •  Leave a Comment

I have been shooting almost exclusively this year with a Leica M10 and several Leica prime lenses. My favorite lenses are the Summicron 35mm f2 and 75mm f2 and the Summilux 50mm f1.4.

After about 5,000 images processed with Capture One Pro 11, I realize what the "Leica Look" is that fanatical Leica shooters talk about. Leica primes are excellent and do render with fine detail and micro-contrast throughout the frame.

When I pixel peep the Leica DNG files and compare them to images shot with my Fuji X system. The Fuji X images are fantastic, but the Leica images seem to pop off the screen (or paper). It is subtle but addictive.

For the moment, I am enjoying both systems for different reasons.
